Grand Provincial Lodge Renfrewshire donation to Scouts David McCallum..
A local scouting group have further secured their future in the community thanks to a kind donation from generous Freemasons.
Members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire West generously topped up the fundraising efforts of the 32nd Scouts based in Greenock by handing over a cheque for £2,000.
The Scouting group recently moved to their new premises on Bank Street, so Provincial Grand Master Brother Robin McIntyre and former Provisional Grand Master Brother Alex Galbraith chose to give the youngsters a cash boost.
Robin said: “We have been working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to help various local organisations by providing monetary sums, computers and tablets.
“We heard the 32nd Scouts were fundraising and we chose to donate funds to them as we are very keen to help youth organisations where we can.”
The funds – and an imac computer – were accepted on behalf of the group by Trustee of the 32nd Scouts, David McCallum, who added: “The Freemasons of Renfrewshire support many community project like ours during the year and much of their work goes unrecognised.
“When our recent crowdfunder project ended in January raising £6400, the Freemasons were first to offer support to top up our total, and now government restriction have relaxed slightly, this is a good time for this kind donation to be gratefully accepted.”
