Hour of Slack #1550 – The Eulogy of Pappy

Rev. Ivan Stang’s father, “Pappy,” boarded the saucers on Nov. 9 at age 88. This Radio Synaesthesia show was recorded at WCSB-Cleveland about two weeks later, with Stang and Princess Wei joining host Dr. Sinister by phone from Stang Ranch in Stangsville, Texas. Lonesome Cowboy Dave also called in. The discussion covers many other things besides the death of the Stang patriarch, but it included a perfect edit-point for Stang to insert the recording of himself reading Pappy’s eulogy to the local Stangsville Methodist church — a eulogy which Pappy wrote himself! When you hear it, you’ll clearly understand how Stang got the way he is. (Although if we had any similar Mammy recordings, it would be clear that both parents made Rev.
