Calcare di Aurisina : ricomposto su una base lunga circa m. 2 in due tabelle alte ognuna circa m. 1.10 e divise da una fascia a meandro.
Scoperta in Aquileia lungo la via Petrada ( prop. I. Treu, part. cat. 589/2 )
Ricomposta da più frammenti.
Al di sotto dell’iscrizione sono indicati gli strumenti del defunto, con probabilità maestro muratore (capomastro ) o inprenditore edile: il regolo di due piedi romani( regula ), l’archipendolo ( perpendiculum ), il compasso ( circulus ), la squadra ( norma; lato m. 0.17), il martello ( malleus ), il filo a piombo ed un mazzo di scalpelli ( scalpra ).
E’ probabile che costituisse solo la base di un’edicola, sviluppata in elegante colonnato e contenente la statua del capostipite della famiglia.Cronologicamente è databile agli inizi del I° sec. d.C. Altar of Lucius Alfius Statius. Funerary Monument. Found in Aquileia, North-east of Italy. Along the ancient Roman route named Petrada ( made by Stones ).
Underneath the inscription, the relief shows the working tools of the dead likely master mason or builder.
There are a two roman feet gauge (regula) , a setting level, compass (circulus ), square (norma), a line with plumb bob (perpendiculum ), a setting maul (malleus) and a bundle of chisels (scalpra).
Beginnings of the 1st century A.D.
